A hotel sounds like a good plan to me if there is a decent sized bar there to meet up in.

I go away for two days and you all turn into posh cunts staying in hotels....

In my opinion it needs to be trackside....and not a 3 mile walk to the main part to work and you will lose a lot of the camaraderie of camping.

Some of the funniest shite ever has been on CLM camp sites...

But then as I share a room with Peter on other trips maybe a single tent in a field feels like luxury to me.. :wink: :wink: :lol:

Classic LeMans 2016 - ideas & thoughts for DDK trip

Post by hot66 »

.. Ironically, my new smaller pop up tent arrived today :roll:

Dont all get too excited , these are just thoughts at this time ..... the hotel thing might just be too much money which would go against our way of doing things

The great thing in the past about DDK to CLM has been the way weve done it 'like it used to be' back in the day .. roll up , pitch your tent, grab a beer, some grub, wander into the circuit watch some cars , stroll back , have some banter and a laugh etc etc .. nothing beats that midnght walk around the pits , paddocks etc beer in hand 8)

It's a difficult one this jason which is why I'm asking for opinions ... Although I know from the past usually it's best just to make a decision and see who's up for it :)

I love the camping too as think it makes leman the event it is .... When it's sunny it's great :) Although as we saw last time, if the weather is crap it does change the atmosphere .

Personally, I think im more in favour of camping again and keeping costs sensible ..... its a big step up in ££'s to private camping and hotels ??

Of course I may feel different about this next week :roll: :lol:

After the last few nights here the thought of a tent is a little troubling for me...

After Beer, Petrol and cars there shouldn't be any money left for hotels. If there is, you just need more cars and beer. Period. W

+ 1

Last time was near the circuit and ok but would have been better if we had been in a number of rows rather than a couple of long rows.
I must admit that the loos and the showers make a hotel attractive but once every couple of years I can probably cope.

Bollocks

In a hotel close to the circuit...with cold beer on tap...perhaps waiter service brought out to the side of the track...snacks and a massage....

just to give you an idea on difference in costs ( these are my calcs as a guide ) :

based on 2 in a car / sharing

Public camping :

camping and tickets = £120pp ( 240 per car )
Hull ferry = £280
Tunnel = £130

Total Hull = £260pp
Total Tunnel = £185pp

Private camping ( incl tickets) :

Total Tunnel = £390pp
Total Hull = £395pp

Hotel Option

hotel = £470 pp
hull ferry = £280
Tunnel = £130

Total Hull = £610pp
Total Tunnel = £535pp

Big difference in cost, but that's based on the expensive trackside hotel ( 99% sure price I was given didn't include ferry )
