Classic LeMans 2016 - ideas & thoughts for DDK trip
Thinking ahead to next July & Classic LeMans 2016.
Ideas then ... normally we organise a block camping area within a general campsite ... Maison Blanche , Karting Nord and last year Bleu Nord . Advantage of this is it keeps the cost down to sensible levels, especially for those of us who might only have 2 nights at LeMans, and the other nights out & about in France.
Not sure if it was the weather or something else, but I didn't feel Bleu Nord really worked last time ... anyone else think this ?
So, what do we think for 2016 ?
General camping again but see it we an get a different campsite
General camping on Bleu Nord
Private Camping at LeMans ( gated, privat loos/ showers , bar etc ) with one of the organised groups like 1st tickets, Travel destination setc etc
Off site camping / hotel ?

I think your view of Bleu is Perhaps coloured by the fact that you arrived a day later than in all previous years and left a day earlier
Can't remember whose fault that was..... Just sayin'
I didn't love it or hate it - not really different to the previous years apart from factors like the weather and your mates not being there

Thinking about it there were tossers (in early porsches!) in the enclose area playing their 'Bangin Choons' till all hours which was a bit of a pisser to say the least, and I did have to have a word with a drunken Belgian at 2:00 am who didn't realise he was shouting.
In previous years not had those problems but did have the light-fingered Lambo crew (allegedly) who may have nicked stuff (allegedly) but at least let us get a good night's sleep
But I suppose you can have those sort of problems wherever you park. If we'd gone for the 'luxury' camping last time we'd have been in with the 'Bangin Choons' brigade

I didn't go last year but was in Bleu Nord with 1st Ticket for the 24 hour race. I thought the location was OK. What I like about it was it wasn't a long walk to get into Arnage (1 mile) using the adjacent back road. Bring a bike and it would be 5 mins

Best bit was the drive down and back but without doubt Honfleur was fantastic. Loved that wee town.
Blue Nord was handy for the track but disappointing layout. Weather did not help.
Regards
Mike

Hounaudieres with Travel Destinations for us last year. Great set up. Neat little secure site but 24hr food a bit too basic so we ate around the course when out and about on our bikes. High spot for me was 3am on the bank in the rain watching and listening to the Cobras/Mustangs/Other-V8s-are-available as they burnt off down the Mulsanne straight. Phenomenal noise that shook my boots lap after lap...

Next year I'm going for the enclosure or a hotel. Worth the extra cost for toilets/showers

We were there a couple of days ago and the (very nice young) lady at reception took us for a guided tour of the experience centre. It's in a great location and has a close and fantastic view of the last chacine and start finish straight.markm wrote:I lke the sound of that neil.

Classic LeMans 2016 - ideas & thoughts for DDK trip
A large group of us hotel it on the way down and way back up, and then only have 2 or maybe 3 nights under canvass. As much as I crave a hotel when there , I do know I'd miss the overall atmosphere that makes CLM .
The private camping options is probo a good compromise
If you do want a hotel, get something sorted now whist there is still availability. Plenty of companies offering hotel s or chateaux etc
