For the last few events we have stayed here: http://en.chateau-de-chanteloup.com

Lovely venue, garden party on the Friday night with free food and booze (while it lasts), nice pool and a shortish drive into the circuit.

It's also got a well stocked bar, a restaurant on site and brilliant facilities.

I've stayed at Le Bounty and this place is loads better.

I'd definitely recommend it.

so ...

what if I could get say 25 rooms in a hotel, located either trackside or spitting distance of the track..... booked for similar money per person to the private camping ?

Would we want to try CLM from a hotel base ?

yes, thats one option, but been offered others as well , incl one starting at £150 pp for 3 nights

Its more wanting to know wether this is the route DDK might want to go down for 2016 ? Gut feel is it might be nice for a change now the general camping areas seem to be reducing and there is more & more private camping ... and sometime the hotel bar thing can actually make it more sociable ????

I've been speaking to someone today about these hotels which is why I've posted it up. Shall I progress down this route further ?

Booking.com, who I usually use, shows nearest available hotel rooms for those dates as being 28kms away from Le Mans...

that'll be because all the close stuff is pre booked by the various companies. My tel call this morning was quite positive as the guy also provide hotel rooms for a couple of other car clubs

Definitely something worth pursuing further. The main social advantage of the camping is that you can wander around and see people, rather than them being behind a room door, but a good bar/social could work as well.

I hate camping with a passion although I've been happy to put up with it for the craic . Hotel would be nice for a change if we can get everyone in . Plus there'll be somewhere for Thomas to plug his hairdryer in .

I love the camping but maybe trying a hotel wouldn't be a bad idea. Count me in

I dont mind the camping but it is obvious the camping side is going more and more organised/ private. Cheap hotel sounds good for once, im up for it

I'm up for a trip to CLM, 2015. Camping or cheap hotel is fine.
