Rose Passion 996 Headlights Experiences

Post by mjh356@hotmail.com »

Hi All,

The old headlights on the kettle (996) are showing their age and yellowed. Despite several attempts to restore them, I think that the time has come to replace. The Porsche Valeo ones are £1,600 EACH, however Rose Passion do an LED version for £1K for the pair. I am not so fussed about the originality and particularly as they are service items, IF I can improve the output and quality of the headlight beams.

Any experience good or bad ? Good fit ?

thanks,

Mark

James,

I had looked at that, a pair of good second hand headlights are more than the NEW pair from Rose Passion. Loads are as bad or worse than my own.

I was looking to see what experience people had of them and their quality.

thanks,

Mark

Went through this loop on my 986 - in the end I paid someone to restore the covers. His service included some sort of UV protector to resist yellowing. 3years on they're still clear despite being the car being kept outside year round.

If the lights are Xenon/Litronic: There are some other tweaks - make sure the two level sensors are working (a visual check is usually all that's needed) both on UK kerbside of chassis within wheel wells and connected to the lower suspension arms. If they aren't functioning properly the beams fail safe to minimum self-levelling giving the shortest beam projection.

Also Xenon/Litronic - there are two connectors on the lamp housing - one is the fixed loom connector the second is on a tail and often not plugged in. Usually wingside of the headlamp opening. These also need plugging in to activate the self levelling.

Also the Xenon reflector degrades pretty badly over time and makes a huge difference to the headlamps' output. A dutch firm (link below) offer a kit which appears to be a straight swap. They also include the lead to provide Bi-Xenon support for main beam:
