Group 4 wheels 7R. Anyone have them?

Hi, thinking of getting some new wheels for the 911, to avoid the constant fun of cracks and out of round well used original Fuchs seem to present.

Tempted by the 7R option from Group 4 wheels and then put the best two 6” original wheels on the front.

I know I need spacers as they have the original 49mm offset, ideally 12mm I understand, but I’ve ordered a set of 15mm bolt to bolt to avoid longer studs, at least in the short term.

So my question is has anyone used them? How do they look in real life? Look great on the website but obviously cast, not anodised forged, so how obvious is the difference?

I had a set of four, which I had painted but never used (I went with Torq Thrusts instead), but here's a 'real life' photo of them from a different angle, if it helps.

I think the main advantage is that they have the humps, so they are 100% tubeless type wheels.

BTW I have never seen cracked or bent Fuchs

3 out of my original 4 have cracked

This one was found whilst prepping for a repaint

I’ve got 2 cracked Fuchs sat on the shelf too .. 72/73 flat 6’s that were original to my car

Maybe it’s the flat ones that are more prone? The inside edge is really rough and is has ‘cracks propagate from here’ written all over it

In my experience, the wider the wheel, the more common it is to see cracks - lots of original 9's & 11's ended up being fit only for scrap ...

This is another wheel from the inside.


As James said they all fail in the same place.
As a preservation method a clean sanded radius on that inner edge wouldn’t go amiss during a refurbishment to get rid of those initiators.

Cracks in 8's/9's/11's are typically seen near the centres on the rear - often unseen/unknown about till someone (usually a new owner !) decides to have them restored ...
