Oil Pipes & Ignition

Post by chris68 »

This might sound like a daft question but..........

I've got new oil pipes for my '68 911. The long oil return pipe (pump back to oil tank) is flexible and I'm not sure how to route it. Should it go over or under the transmission and how do you make sure it doesn't interfere with the heat exchanger? I'm also wondering if I shouldn't have the metal tubular type instead with the short flexible hose on the end.

On a different note, anyone got experience using a Lumenition ignition module on an early 911? I understand the early cars can suffer plug fouling which was remedied later on with the MSD ignition unit. I haven't got a MSD unit but I have got an old Lumenition knocking about. Does it offer any improvement?

DDK - I'd be in the sh*T without it!

Cheers,
Chris

Chris - can you post a picture of the oil pipe you have sourced as the one from the nearside of the car back to the oil tank should be metal where it runs under the engine and then have a flexible section back to the tank.

I'm not sure however that this is the one you mean.
