Removing glue and masking tape residue from paintwork.
I need to get rid of some masking tape gum and other glue from double backed tape off of my 911 paintwork. Whats the best and kindest stuff to use?
I don't want to mark the paint or cause a reaction.
Someone told me white spirit but that seems a bit harsh.

Most 'off-the-shelf' solvents won't harm your paintwork (but to be sure test them somewhere less visible like the underside of bonnet first).
White spirit or thinners will remove the sticky residue (cue Cubist...).

Ok well i'll try some white spirit on a small section of hidden paint and then if it looks all good get to work on the bits that need cleaning.
Thanks Andy.

white spirit dude, or lighter fluid either will evaporate before it does any harm to your car, unless its been painted with Delux Gloss or summat.
Just whack some good wax on the area afterwards

I find that lighter fluid is the best for removing glue.
