Supplier needed - RESOLVED NOW

Post by silverboydreamer »

Hi, car is a 356 T6 and i need a part that is not listed in the Porsche parts catalogue, it is the reducing angled connector between the body heating tube and the heat valve, photo enclosed.
Can get them from Germany but will cost £100 each which is a bit steep and is likely to give me heart palpitations if I have to shell out £200 plus post.
So if anyone knows anywhere I can them for a reasonable price please let me know, thanks.

After a tip-off from a fellow member I found a place to make these in Redditch, it’s call “ everyexhaustpart.com“, a very good reproduction in stainless or mild steel for £ 25.00 each, fitted straight onto car. So thanks for all your comments,

.

If you can't find any for a reasonable price, I'd be tempted to contact an exhaust fabricator - somebody like this:

Hi Andy, thanks for that suggestion, by the look of it, it might be TT exhausts as its in Redditch, I have to go over to see him this month so will see what he can do as the pics look as though they are near to what I need.

Thanks for info, at £74 plus vat it’s all getting into area that’s giving me a lot of stress having to come to terms with paying a lot of money for a bit of tin. Having spent nearly 40 years restoring Porsche’s it never ceases to amaze me how creative suppliers are at charging and 356 prices are heart attack territory for me. Or is it I’m getting too old?

But in fairness, very niche market. I doubt any superyachts are being bought with the proceeds.
And it is good that our cars continue to be supported by short-run parts suppliers.

I agree might look an easy to reproduce part but....there is more to it than you might think. And if they sell only small quantities this is what drives prices up.

PRS have a huge amount of second hand parts so might be worth giving them a call to see if they could help? I know Mike from PRS is a regular on here so he might answer for you.

But going back to your point about 356 spares prices - yes they are often eye watering but I think thats because they aren't manufactured in huge quantities due to the very small market. Not sure globally how many 356's are still on the road but I'd guess it's only around 1000? I think the Porsche Club GB has around 200 members with 356's albeit they aren't necessarily all on the road.

The reason that we replicated this part is because we coud never find one - when we needed it for a customer, so I know that we do not have any used ones

The Market is extremely small for this part (it was only used on Late Cars) and I am sure that `currently` we are the only people making them (the ones from Germany are our production.

Of course, we had to produce the tooling for it and it is a complcated little dude to produce and we are lucky to have a guy that will turn out these small quantities for us

Will we make another run of them ? - who knows?
