Battery isolation switch

I have one of those green Earth isolation terminals on my battery and have found that its quality is not high (brass coated) and that it has some degree of resistance. Are there better types of switches for easy use when working on the car? Also is the location always under the front hood?

I used a Richbrook isolator on my 911 as an immobiliser. It has a fuse which maintains the lights/clock supply but not the starter motor. I presumed it was brass but not absolutely sure and it's long gone now.

I am fitting a motorsport rally type on the live positive side of the battery. It means it has to be mounted on a bracket and you need to change some cables but6 as it is competition quality its good.
It has a removable key so the great benefit is as an anti theft device when you leave the car parked.

I have not fitted it yet so cannot send photo. If you look on ebay.uk for item 253864453124 it shows the item which is available from Hong Kong.
i am mounting it above the battery on the LHS. You need a crimped connector with 10mm hole put on your existing battery lead and another short battery lead with 10mm connector. Its pretty simple. if you want the clock to work all the time the small cable connected to the battery can be put on the battery side of the switch however this gives power to the ignition and someone could bump start the car to steal it.

On my LHD 356C I fitted a battery cut-off switch (with a removable key) hidden from view in the nearside front inner wing.

There was already a suitable (blanked-off) hole through to the luggage compartment which, I think was intended for an auxiliary petrol heater, so I utilised that to mount the switch.

It meant that I could isolate the car from outside when leaving it unattended.

I'm not sure about a low volt fuse to allow clocks etc to work on our 6v batteries! Personally I would not fit that fuse?
