1968('67MY)UK RHD SWB 911 shell with V5C+interesting history

Post by amallagh »

Hi,
I am offering for sale a RHD UK supplied 1968 (1967bmodel year) 911L Coupe SWB first registered July 1968.
It was originally Bahama Yellow but is currently fully struipped having been dipped ready for restoration by Envirostrip.
Make no mistake this shell was very rusty but is now completely stripped with no rust and has the holes to prove it. Front, A pillars, floors and torsion tube are pretty bad. Rear seats, rear deck and rear screen surround are amazingly good.
It has rust on all the normal places and will require very extensive restoration. It has been put on a jig and is straight.

It has an interesting history having its original RAC historic motorsport papers going back to 1996 with period colour picture from the time. Searches on line also reveal some of the cars previous competition history. The car was used as a road rally car and has a simple 6 point weld in cage fitted. This has kept it straight over the years and especially now it is stripped and the floors removed ready for restoration.

It is a completely bare shell ready for restoration with current V5C and this is what I am selling as a basic package. Looking for around £26/27k but happy to negotiate depending on what else you want to add. It is very hard to put a value on something, like this.

In addition I can supply with the original matching numbers engine/case, I know where the matching numbers gbox is and I understand the gentleman might be prepared to sell it (another matching type gearbox available in any case). I can also supply with running gear if required.

I do have pretty much all the new panels to repair it, including full length floor, inner wings, rear quarters, etc, etc. About 50/60 panels in total. Hinge panels have all been removed and most were too bad to justify repair when replacements are readily available. Happy to negotiate additionally for the panels. A selection of the panels on the last picture but not all of them. There is no interior or trim to speak of.

Everything over and above the basic shell and V5C available subject to negotiation depending on what you want.

For reasons beyond my control the storage I had it in has gone and it is currently in a friends garage, but it has to move soon. A quick sale is therefore required if I'm going to sell it at all. I had planned to restore it myself but the body shop I planned top use let me down and hadn't started it after 2.5 years at their workshop. The relationship broke down. I either need to put it into new storage (don't know where yet) and restore it myself next year, or sell it. So I am testing the water to see if there is someone out there wanting a major restoration project on a genuine UK RHD, 1968 (1967 model year) swb 911. A quick sales is essential as once I've decided to put it into storage then I will likely decide to keep it.

I repeat, don't expect much from the bodywork, I have described it accurately, but it is straight and it is recoverable for someone with the right skills.

If you are seriously interested then get in touch asap by PM. Viewing near Warrington
Regards
Andrew
