Fitting electric aerial / antenna in left hand wing of 912

Post by soulsonicboy »

I want to fit a period looking chrome electric aerial / antenna to my 1966 LHD 912. The Hirschmann AUTA 2050 seems the most appropriate but I’m not sure if the motor will fit given the tight space in that front left wing with the fuel filler and all. Has anyone ever attempted this? I’ve also seen chrome aerials with remote motors so you can local the motor where there’s more space, but they look even less period correct than this Hitschmann one.

Thanks for any help

Cheers

Ben

Check but if I recall correctly the electric/motorised version actually went in the equivalent area but on RHS because of space constraints.

All electric areial’s were fitted to the right front wing and manual ones to the left front wing on a 911/2 to the best of my knowledge. I’ve never fitted either but there must be a space reason for it.

Mike

Electric aerials always fitted to the RH front wing as the fuel filler got in the way of the motor on the LHS.
