Re: Goodwood 2018 Members Meeting
The official entry list is expected early next week as there have been many changes with cars unavailable etc.
The races have to be balanced or you would have a dozen Elites and E Types in the Pre 63 GT race rather than a mixture including 356,s
Can 356,s finish in front of any Etypes and will they be as quick as the fast Elites?
Should be interesting.

I know I am biased, but I am always surprised given how many decent racing 356s there are now, at how few get an invite to either the Members Meeting or the Revival....

Re: Goodwood 2018 Members Meeting
In the next issue of Classic Porsche, Robert Barrie has written a definitive piece on Porsches racing at Goodwood from day one, tracking down entries for each event. Armed with that information, I'd have thought that some arm twisting in the future might be possible as the current decision makers may not even be fully aware of the past association...

Frustrating that any arm twisting is needed Keith! I am sure I am not the only one that would love to see some quick 356s at all kinds of lurid angles at Goodwood!

Re: Goodwood 2018 Members Meeting
But as you know, Goodwood is all about who you know. Have more trouble with press accreditation at Goodwood than any other venue. They don't even allow you to seek press accreditation for the Members' Meeting – it's all by invitation only – even though they've been more than happy to tell me all about the 911-only race, the 917s a couple of years ago, the Group 5 cars this year... Frustrating.

Not sure there are to many quick 356’s around.
The quick one’s are the Stevens Cars which are not available this weekend ,

Re: Goodwood 2018 Members Meeting
I would of guessed that a 356 with 1.6l engine would really struggle against Etypes (and other bigger cc cars) on a flat course like Goodwood? Seems to be a long drag with lots of controlled power slides.

If it rains 356 ‘s will be reasonably competitive,
Could see off Some E Types

Re: Goodwood 2018 Members Meeting
I see there are 8x904s, along with 5x911s and Lee's 901, in the first race. Not a bad way to kick off the event.
Followed by...
Race 6: Cooper-Porsche Bobtail.
Race 8: John's and Sam Tordoff's 356s
Race 11: 3x906s and 2x910s
Group 5 demos: 9x935s (including 'Moby Dick'), one 934.5 and a 924GTP
I cannot wait (despite the thought of 2°C temperatures!). See you all there.
