SWB rear 1/4 panel question

Post by johnnym »

Hi all,

I'm restoring a 1967 SWB 912 coupe. The rear 1/4 panels are rotten at the back, approx 4 inches above the light housings. The rear screen corners have also gone.

I've looked at replacement panels and Dansk don't make a replacement 1/4 panel. The Porsche alternative is £1250 each side- way out of my budget.

So, the question is, would the rear part of a LWB panel work? I know the part in front of the wheel arch would be too long, but the rest? Has anyone tried this?

If not, any other ideas?!

Many thanks,
John

you can get these - they will do a discount but still not cheap. I don't think LWB will work as it will be a different shape - others will know for sure, however you could make a repair panel by fabricating yourself - or someone else fabricating one?

If these areas have trouble then look hard above and behind the engine electrics board. its a known problem area. Don't want to be pessimistic but......

There again it may have already had some attention.
