Any thoughts about a 2017 DDk tour for next summer ?

Post by amallagh »

Penny for your thoughts :?:

Just a thought, but RMA trackdays are doing a two circuit event at Spa Francorchamps (106dB static noise limit) and the following day at Zolder (no noise limit). The provisional dates are 19th & 20th July 2017.

Something like this could be worked into a tour there and back. No idea even if RMA would allow a club group to gate crash their party but I suppose that isn't the point. Just wondered more generally if anyone would be interested in a road tour including one or two trackdays at a couple of premium Euro circuits ? Would certainly appeal to me, mixed with some good road driving there and back, decent hotels and the normal craic. The trackday bit would just be something different from previous tours and anyone not wanting to push their car round the track can still have a good day spectating or plan a road loop to visit a local attraction. RMA trackday just as an example have all sorts of exotica out on track to spice up the spectating.

A few years ago there was talk about a tour to the Alps but for one reason or another it didn't come off (?)

Any other ideas ?
Cheers

Well that makes 2 of us then

I'd definitely be up for a Euro tour. Couple of track days thrown in would be a great icing on the cake.

Winter is here guys, time to start thinking of next summer :?:

On the public days now at the Nurburgring they're opening the GP circuit too - if you buy a card, 1lap of the nordschleife (sp?) is worth 1x 20min session on the frankly awesome GP circuit..

..might be another option as there's more public days so might be easier to fit in around other dates, also people can purchase "sessions" pretty much on an ad hoc basis, or if they just wanted to do one or two sessions rather than committing to a full day

Another option to consider (for sun, mammoth ferry crossing, and road trip) might be porti mao in the Algarve - very reasonable track days there although not sure what else is around the area if you wanted to wrap up a couple of track events

Hi Andrew, I've resolved to get the 911 up and running again after several years of very limited use so would be very interested in a DDK euro trip and also track days. How's the rallying going? We've entered Simon Rossitor's Classic Trophy event for end of Sept as an albeit distant target for me to get stuck in and complete a whole range of long outstanding jobs :)

I would be up for a euro tour but would like something Mrs B friendly throw in too.

Just a thought to add. I visited Haute Saintonge in the Charente in France a short while ago. Built by the family of French F1 racer Jean Paul Beltoise, it's like a mini Cadwell Park.

Might be a good track to build into a French road trip? You can see more info on it here:

When I was there, they were running a combined Lotus and Porsche track day. Well run, decent standard of driving, plus of course, a two hour lunch break complete with white tablecloths and red wine...
