Dave

I'll take the sunroof motor if Stefan passes. Mine is making a helluva racket but thankfully still working.
I think a back up would be advisable. Cheers.

Regards
Mike

Mike,

Are you sure it's not the little triangular gearbox that is making the noise? They are apparently more prone to noise/wear than the motor ….. the latter tend to just work…or not!
Not sure if Dave has one of those though.

Thanks Mick

I haven't investigated it, all I know is it's making a racket during use behind my head.
If the motor comes my way I'll ask Dave about the gearbox. Can't have too many spares especially on frequently used moving parts.

Is there any method of lubricating the box to extend its life? As I say, I haven't looked yet. Cheers.

Mike

I find that noise strangely reassuring, even calming. Whilst a bust motor with the roof half way closed when it started to rain, hard, on a long journey between motorway junctions, WOULD be the worst possible thing to happen, that noise comes way down the list of things not quite as bad in my opinion. Never fails to raise a smile in me.
