911 black bonnet index mark

When I had my car re-sprayed the company put a garish black on white index mark (number plate) on the bonnet where my black plate had been, where all 2.2 front plates are, I complained but they said they couldn't get flexible black any more.
Construction and Use 1971 regs. as fitted original should be white on black.
Has anybody else had this problem? why? (not to say WTF)

There are plenty of places that do vinyl plates, I use Craigsplates.

I run a black & white front vinyl sticker but on the lower bumper .. personally think it looks better than on the bonnet

If you are going to put a vinyl number plate on , then stick it on the bonnet , thats where it was intended
