Was still available when I asked a week ago.......the car has had a lot of interest with a couple of people making very serious noises!

It is a VERY nice car.

Don't really know what you mean, you either buy a car or you don't.

What is it that makes it a VERY nice car then in your view?
cheers, Mike.

Not everyone is as decisive as you Mike, some people take an age to make the jump. I've spent the last 3 weeks dealing a guy on a commercial vehicle, offer didn't change, just took that long to commit.....and that's on a £6K Van!!!!!

As for VERY......I could be flippant and say any 2.4E  ....however it's a nice, original, unmolestered, RHD 2.4 in, imo, the best colour, that wants for nothing with excellent provenance....as I understand the mechanical's have been well maintained/rebuilt by a meticulous previous owner who lavished money on the car, the shell is straight, solid and has not sustained any serious damage.....the car looked fantastic when Mark first purchased the car however he's spent a small fortune in an attempt to make it perfect. Try finding another as nice.....not easy.

Not trying to justify the asking price, the market will decide that.....however it is VERY nice!

IMO

Thanks for that Darren, all interesting observations. You say straight and solid shell but there's no mention of any metalwork to the car
just recent repaint. For a 40 year old UK car I'd be surprised if it hasn't needed work to the sills, floor or kidney bowls at some stage.

I do know the brakes work though, having watched it come very close in my rear view mirror at Classic Le Mans a few years ago
cheers, Mike.

That was actually 8 years ago Mike, and anyway I cannot remember what you are talking about.
I do have some vague memory of coming upon a nervous backmarker as we together arrived at Arnage corner, and being taken aback when he decided to brake 50 meters earlier than was necessary

The car is a peach, it's true. The asking price is high, true also.
If Mark has had serious interest, my biggest surprise is that none of the potential buyers has contacted me to ask about the car. What I will say is that I would happily buy the car back... if money were no object...

Ah, that would be the Go-Kart kid!

I thought James (previous owner) had stripped the shell in the not too distant past and dealt with those areas, fitted new wings etc. Could be wrong?.........Mark had it taken back to bare metal, replaced door skins and had a glass out respray.

For clarification I've never properly inspected the car although have had a good look around it and it does look delicious!

Nice spec too.

With my imminent move to Kent I have not been around much lately.

Quick update on my 2.4E, lots of interest with a couple of offers, however not quite what I would want to accept for the car. I have taken the car off Pistonheads however I am still open to selling at the right price.

Mike

you asked about metal work, James previously replaced front wings, front and rear bumpers, during the bare metal respray last year only areas of metal work were new door skins, the car is a good solid original car.

If anyone needs any further info, happy to answer any questions.

Regards
Mark
