What is the best way to remove black waxoyl coating?

Post by Tp81 »

I am looking to try and strip the waxoyl coating from the underside of my car.

Looking on line, white spirit seems to be the best suggestion. Are there any other tried and tested methods other than elbow grease?

Regards

If it's waxoil then use thinners or petrol. If it's the original Porsche spray on sealer, then, as Darren says above, it's a heat gun and scraper.

Tom

I thought you were just doing a light refresh and touch up?

Be careful with those thinners or the scrapper/heat gun. You might end up here,

A steam cleaner / hot pressure washer will wazz it off in seconds. Can be done whilst smokin a tab, no elbow grease required.

Whoops! ….thought you meant this stuff…

As Nick and Sam say, thinners and a hot jet wash will do the job.

Mike,

Hopefully the waxoyl is not all that is holding it together!

My car is going in to the bodyshop on Friday so though it wise to get it as clean as possible and try and uncover all the issues and deal with them all at once.

Thanks for the X rated images, I could regret this.
