Any happy snow stories.....?

Post by alfacat »

Good morning all
Is or was anyone out tail sliding around in the snow, I'd was (when it snowed) last year at about 2 in the morning lots of fun on empty Epping roads, but this year I'm Porsche-less (FWD is no fun).
Anyway drive carefully everyone and stay on the black (off white) stuff & out of the green (greeny white) stuff....

All the best
Ian F.

previously never been able to get rwd cars off the drive .... bmw's were the worst . Managed 1 meter last year before getting stuck

So having been stranded for days in the past couple of years, fitted winter tyres in Nov to the wife's Merc ........ & of course we've had one of the mildest winters for years  ....... until yesterday & today  We've got a fair few inches here

Result ...... drove the Merc off the drive, down the village & along until I found the nearest 'treated' road & then back home again . Traction control light never even flickered, no wheel spin, slippage etc. Well impressed 8)

So I've spent £600 to allow me to drive the wife's car up the village & back on a Sunday  Bet we don't see any more snow now until next year

Hi All
The snows about 3 inches deep here in East London with no signs of it melting yet.....
Time to stay in with a 'hot rum toddy' and watch the Bond movie (OHMSS), admire the AM DBS and smile at the ice racing.

All the best

I eventually managed to get a constant 20m arch of snow from the blower, straight back onto the neighbours freshly cleared pavement :)

Minus 20oC yesterday!!

4 or 5 inches came down here (between Leicester and Coventry) last night in about 4 hours so that was fun on the roads. A lot of it is still here although most roads are clear now. No fun in the car though as trying to powerslide 2 tons of Defender is always going to end in trouble!

Just 6" here, and the council don't clear my road, which is 1 in 4

It took 30 mins to clear the driveway before I could get out for a bit of fun.

That happened while we were out for dinner in leicester and had to drive back to kibworth through it :(
On the plus side, lots of stuck 4wd audis and soft roaders, my old beemer with its winter tyres powered straight through with all 4 heated seats (and steering wheel) blazing

One good bit of snow news; I was alowed the day off from fixing amies bloody TT today :(
