The 'Maverick' Classic Porsche Forum and Classic Porsche Club for Porsche 356, Aircooled Porsche 911, Porsche 912, Porsche 914 & Porsche Replicas. 'We join for the cars but stay for the people'
Joking . . . There were a good number of early 911's on the stand (around 25 at one point) . . . and everyone was really cheery, dispite the weather being a little unkind. If there's anyone here that turned up (e.g. Paul, Martin, Nigel) thank you so much . . . and I hope it was okay for you.
The highlight for me were the parade laps . . which for our group was a pretty fast trash round the circuit behind a Carrea GT (but no overtaking unfortunately). Another highlight was the fight in the campsite at around 2am . . . 'I'm an off duty police officer, get out of the effing car' . .
The historic race cars were splendid . . . as were the girls wearing the 'Lose you 911 virginity with me’.
All in all I had a great time . . . met new people and kept myself busy . . I suppose these things are what you make them (to a certain degree).
fight in the campsite at 2am...............do tell more.. and at a Porsche club GB do as well FAB ha ha did they get their suits dirty.. te he.. I bet letters are wizzing around this morning PA's getting loads of grief ...take a note me please.......
Dear F***** B*****
when you slaped me in said campsite at 02.00 hrs .....................
The group next to my tent had one or four drinks . . . . one of them decided to rev has 964 RS to around 7'000 from cold for a few minutes so that everyone could hear how nice it sounded.
Anyway it all kicked off and the whole campsite looked on in amazement of this police man made it clear that although he liked the sound, perhaps it wasn't appropriate at 2am.
Being so close I then had to listen all the fall out following the event . . . women can get so sensitive.
Unfortunately I missed Gavin's BBQ in favour of a warm pub . . sorry but it was a little brass monkeys.
Phil
My feelings on the weekend were its was much better than last year. The moving displays were great. The sound of the 904-6 being the high-light of the week end for me.
My car on the other hand was a bit of a pain in the ass, dropping onto three cylinders on the 3 lap of our parade
Only 6 912's at the peak I think, but all in all a good weekend.
only 6 912's sorry chaps.. I wish now I had gone but had something rather more important to do .. I am so going to get the 356 stripped and just get my mate to do the paint.. then if I have a painted shell I am sure I would get on with it more..
looks a great do... hey Nick that traffic jam picture looked murder was that just to get out of Brands......
I had a good time, good display of cars and the parade laps were excellent fun - much faster than I thought they'd be which was good! I'd like to point out that I overtook the Carrera GT (albeit in the queue for the Dartford tunnel on the way home - but that counts). I'll sort out some pics soon and with Tjark's help Gav should have some good video clips.
I thought it was a pretty damn good weekend with the highlight being Eoin Sloan's wonderful historic display. Standing 6' 0" behind two 917s, a 910/6 and a 904 having their nuts revved off was pretty emotional (am I sad?), huge thanks to the Beachmeister's tireless enthusiasm and hard work. Nick Moss I was looking forward to seeing you but never did.
Parade laps for the SCs were way faster than I imagined but not as much fun as trying to keep up with a GT3 on the main straight on the farewell laps, marshalls weren't taking any notice and so everybody made space and just went for it!
6 feet? One of the 917s had its fire extinguisher system set off by a young lad on Sunday morning just before the parade laps. I rushed over to get an earfull as they tried to get the poor motor running on 12 cylinders and the mechanic, who had his head virtually in the intakes, beckoned me over but I couldn't understand his hand signals so had to put my ear within an inch of his mouth to hear him ask me to pull the charger leads out of the back of the gearbos, ie about 3" from the exhaust exit.
That was loud!
Sorry I missed anyone, I was in a daze most of the day.
