Bit of a strange request but my good friend is getting married on Friday. He has been building a cobra for the last 4 years or so and has had a big push on to get it completed for his wedding day. Unfortunately Lee had it at a garage getting the cabs set up before the SVA test and they set it on fire. He has since managed to get it cleaned up and some way sorted, it passed its SVA last week but his local DVLA want to inspect the car again even though it has a SVA cert. Anyway it looks as if the V5 and number plate are not going to turn up before his wedding day so I was wondering if anybody can suggest a way of getting the car to the Hotel. His wedding is at a country hotel. I wondered if it is legal or possible to borrow some trade plates? The car is insured under its chassis number but has no number plates or tax due to the V5 not yet being issued. Any suggestions would be welcome. His wedding is south Manchester area.
Kind Regards
John

It's a long shot, but I start with sweet talking the DVLA. I had sucess getting a quick plate change on a bimmer before I sold it.
I got an appointment the same day 'just turn up and we will fit you in' and all the document through two days later. This was Chester DVLA and they were very accomodating and not jobsworth, which makes a change.
Peterborough DVLA the same... the guys that do the checking like nothing more than to play with interesting cars and are very helpful with all aspects - especially specials and kitcars. They can tell a mile off whether a kits been built properly and really value good engineering. I've always found it better to turn up in person and blag an appt (easier for me as i'm 5mins away) but they have no problem with unannounced arrivals

Indeed, on a previous visit I'd pitched up on the wrong day They fitted me in anyway.
Just to let you know, Lee was successful in sweet talking the DVLA, they rushed through his paper work and the car made it to his wedding day under its own steam..... Just. It’s not running very well and requires its carb sorting. Anyway I managed to get my car put together on Wednesday after a 7 month lay up, MOT'ed at 4 O'clock and a 120 mile trip down to south Manchester on the Thursday. Just got back after 240 trouble free miles. Back on the road for a full summer of porscheing

How's the car performing / looking on the new rubber & suspension ?

Well it has the ride hieght of a 4x4 but the car feels more planted than it did, I think I need a ride hight corner wieght and suspension set before I can judge. Car ran well though and looks well on the Avons.
