Re-chroming or polishing chrome

Any suggestions on who to use for rechroming? Its such an expensive job it seems

Or any suggestions on how to get the best look out of your existing chrome parts....i'm sure you must all have tricks galore

I have been looking recently to do a set of steelies. I think I am going to get them powder coated.

You should look at THIS post, powder coating has come on quite a bit!

Jason - if you're talking about the door window frames & door handles (there aren't many other chromed parts on an early 911) - have a word with Alan Drayson (Alan.UK).

Andy yes I'd like to get the window frames done as you say but this seems quite a job, just to get them out...man hours wise, and pockets won't stretch to that at the mo and i'm no good at these things...i'll just make a mess of it!

Is this for the 'RSR' or the 'S' ?

As far as coupes go, only the early '65-'67 cars had chromed (brass) door window frames - the '68-on models had bright anodised aluminium frames.

as Barry stated on there, triple process is best

TBH the quality of the finish is totally dependant upon the state of the metal underneath, if its pitted, gouged(sp?) etc then these will show up again unless removed i.e. polished/ground out

Hi,

James is correct, the results are dependant on original condition. This is reflected even more so when anodising parts.

Here is a set of 67S trim from a car we are currently restoring (basically the same as all pre 68 cars).

Chroming is not something we offer as a direct service as an income source but we are always have parts being chromed/plated/polished/anodized/powder coated/blasted etc… thus if we can help let me know.

depending whereabouts you are in the country - I have used a company in Mexborough near Doncaster for all my stuff - including polishing my Fuchs at excellent rates and first class work - been doing it years...

Firstly, I personally do not care about polishing the fuchs wheels as any proverbial Helmut can do that. Moreover, there are only a number of companies in the UK who can correctly anodise a fuch wheel. And that brings us to the brightwork.

The pre-68 had indeed chrome on Brass but all the later models were either clear anodised or dark anodised. If only i could find a company who could bloomin anodise in the correct tint. So far my search is for New Old Stock.

Did all the stuff for my 356 and 911 - you do need to let him know if its for concours/best finish rather than a quick dip in the tank - very nice fella thats owned a 356 in the past
