Carcoon experience?

Hi all - festive greetings and all that! Has anyone got a Carcoon or know if they are any good? My 356 is garaged, but the garage is a little damp/ cold, so I'm just thinking it may be a good idea. Any opinions please?

I have one.

Good Bits ... does what it says eg, by circulating air it keeps temperature changes slow so preventing condensation. Note it keeps the car moisture free by air movement . It will dry a wet car too

Bad bits ... pain in the arse to get the car in & out, not a problem if you only get the car out once a week.

Not using mine at the moment as I find I never get any winter jobs done on the car if its in the Carcoon

i found mine was great but dried the seals out on the car.. none split, but several shrunk.. this could just be because the car was stored in the carcoon for 6months without being removed..

this happened with two different cars (MG Midget and 964) so i dont think this is porsche (or me) specific

My car lives in one, keeps the car nice and dry over Winter and also stops the wife and kids bashing into it with garden tools/pedal bikes/scooters etc.

Interesting re drying seals out - I hadn't considered that. I think on balance I will go for one of these - as mentioned above, it will help protect the car from the odd brush with a spade in the garage too!

I'm currently using 3 of them. Same principle as the Airflow but cheaper.
Work great for me. Obvious advantage is they stay self-erected when you
take the car out. Chaps called Alistair at Hamilton Classic...

I use a cair-o-port....very easy to get the car in and out, fits snugly inside the garage...seems to work well.

I use a perma bag. Work with dessicant to absorb the moisture.
