Shiny shiny steels

Post by antporter »

After 8 years of steadily rusting chrome steel wheels I decided it was time to sort something out. Considered some fuch wheels but I just love the real classic steel look so I set about trying to find someone to rechrome my wheels. Easier said than done. I then came across a powder coaters that suggested I try their 'special mix' which they claimed looked very chrome like. I was sceptical but their sample looked good. To cut a long story short I picked them up today and am very pleased. Piccy's below. I have just placed the caps on top to show a bit of real chrome.

I'll post a photo with them on the car when I get them on.

Cheers everyone. I was really unsure about getting them done like this but I now have them on the car and the result is really pleasing. No fiddly polishing either!

The place that did the wheels is called Aerocoat. They are in a little place called St Olaves near Great Yarmounth. I am taking the alloys from the Aston to be done this week so will see how they get on with those. From now on I will have to take more care when parking!

Interesting. Are they just before you get to the bridge on the left?

In a bizarre conincidence there used to be a guy in a workshop virtually next door to them who restored Porsches.

Good contact.

Yeah that's the place. Literally just before you go over the big bridge. It has the smallest front door I thought I was walking in the back or something! Really helpful guys down there. I will ask around to see if there is any Porsche acitivity there. I did not see any usual clues, maybe just very tidy..

The guy isn't there anymore - used to be about 12 years ago, had a workshop and played around with a few classic Porsches and I sold him a 911T back in around 96ish

Stripping and coating was £45 per corner. Not bad I thought.
