Newbie from MK

Post by Targa70 »

Hello,

Been lurking for a few weeks now as we have just taken delivery of a 1970 911T Targa last week. The plans are to get it on the road for the time being as I'm currently restoring a '61 Ragtop bug at the moment. We have already gone to the Husborne Crawley swap meet yesterday where we met Helen and got a nice keyring from her and some rear window trim from nick moss.

So when we got back to the workshop in the afternoon, the temptation was to much so we took the targa for a quick blat down the road. A bit naughty I know especially as the car was running a german plate on the front and a Cali plate on the rear. This bought back memories as the last time I drove a 911 was my uncles 71 Targa around Millbrook test track 20 years ago when I was 12. We were both grinning from ear to ear.

So myself and my other half Helen, are looking to many years of owner ship and we're already planning on going to the Classic Le Man next year, especially after watching the DDK dvd several million times. The one thing that really pleased us has been the warm welcome from people we have met so far from the Porsche scene, just like the vdub scene.

Welcome on board Matt. This is certainly the place for advice and a friendly take on air cooling

Will be legal when I next take it on the road. The car was actually on here earlier this year and plans are to get some repairs done and respray it the original colour, but you all know how it is a quick sruce up usually ends up in a full resto :P

Until then I'll be kisking around MK in a Tomato Red GT Beetle, so if you see me say hello.
