Made it at last!

Post by Boxerfan »

Hello folks!
Well, after dreaming & saving for ages, and lurking here for years too, I finally took delivery of my first Porsche last night. I’ve loved the pre-’73 cars since I first became aware of them, but always thought that they, all 911s in fact, were out of my reach, but a while ago I figured I was getting close to enough money for a 2.7 or an SC, and having driven a few cars decided that an earlier car was where my heart was at. So, long story short, I found a ’72 TE, an MFI car from California that seems to have avoided the worst ravages of time. The car’s not perfect by any means, but what needs doing is within my abilities, both technical & financial, and most importantly for me, it’s mine & it’s sitting in my garage! :occasion7:
I’ll post some pics once I have some, but for now I’d just like to thank you all – reading the DDK has informed me about the cars & their strengths & weaknesses, and managed to keep me saving when I might have otherwise weakened & bought another old motorbike or something! I’d particularly like to thank Alan Deakin, Ben & Herr Kult, who I’ve bombarded with questions for what must have seemed like forever!
In some ways, this is like the end of something for me, but it’s obviously it’s the start of something hopefully much more fun than saving my pennies & trawling t’internet! I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions to come, but until then, cheers, Jon.

Jon, a great story to lift the mood on a miserable day (down south anyway) Congratulations :)

I think we can all relate to openning that garage door for the first time to see our pride and joy sitting there begging to be whipped off down the road 8)

...for the welcome! After a false start on Wednesday when it would't start (flat battery  ) Ive used it for work the last couple of days and we're beginning to get to know each other. I recon I'm going to love it! Cheers, Jon.
