It has been a fab day here and perfect to check out a route over a couple of passes though the low sun can be a problem. If the weather is as great as it was today for the 12th I think we can put together a varied run which should hopefully please everyone. We've been past waterfalls and beaches which should suit Mia and Georgia. It was a little difficult in places due to tourists!!! but hopefully there will be less mobile chicanes in Nov.

Either way it would be great to meet up a great bunch of people.

Mike
Can we get over Hardknot and Wrynose as part of the run - would be fabulous (and quiet) at that time of year.
Looking forward to it.

Wrynose in November - rain, low cloud we probably won't even see the road and the rocks on the side Ian let alone the scenery. We've done a couple of recces this week and we know it might seem tame to Wrynose but Newlands was very slippery on the wet and leaves the other day, so much so that I had a Sutton Bank moment during the run. Sue's opted to stay at home on the Sun am and prepare lunch!
How about meeting in Keswick around 10am at Bell Close car park where the cafe, the Lakeland Pedlar, opens at 9am. Leave Keswick approx 10.30 (after Phil's bacon sandwich) heading for Honister Pass via Borrowdale past the slate mine down into Buttermere, around Crummock Water through Lorton Vale to Cockermouth and lunch c/o Sue. Should take around 1 hour + stops for photos depending on tourists in 4 wheel drives!!!!
After lunch head west to Maryport along the Solway coast to Allonby, Silloth, across country via Wigton to Caldbeck. Coffee stop at Priests Mill where our Scots friends can either head north or stay with us through Mungrisedale back to the A66. About 2 hours. If only we could predict the weather? Whatever the weather the Company is always great and the cars will appreciate a good run.

Route sounds good to me Mike - the post lunch bit will certainly give us a chance to 'stretch our legs'. Could have an afternoon cuppa in the Mill Inn at Mungrisedale - a nice place indeed.
Looking forward to seeing you all again in just over a week

Ian,
We know you can't wait for your birthday and the weekend away!!!!??
but the cook hopes it is 2 weeks away, she is still sorting out the sweets.
We agree about the Mill Inn being good but its a while since we have been and can't remember about the parking faclities. Also will they still be open for coffee late Sun afternoon?

Mike (B),

After two weeks in Asia with no driving my Porkas I'm now REALLY looking forward to the 12th
P
James is right - it's going to be a great gathering but I think it's a little unfair on Sue - we would be fine decamping to a pub - or let us bring something like a starter / salad or whatever to ease the load on your good ladyhot66 wrote: Mike, let us know if Sue wants any help etc
