I had an MR2 and still have an MX5, at over 15 years old, they are well on their way to being a classic. Both have exactly the right qualities for a classic car - Heaps of personality. The MR2 is a fabulous drivers car. Not quite the same league as a Porsche, definately a touch on the young side, but classics for sure. I'd cut the waitress a bit of slack

Mike - have you seen the article in 911&PW about the belgian(?) company converting cars to RSR spec?

I read that and thought of you - quick turnaround times - you could be driving it by Christmas........

yes Mark I saw the piece, the problem is they seem to be making replica's as 'fun' cars, using later shells, turbo arches, imitation wheels and later engines, as opposed to recreating as close to the real thing as possible.

The object for me would be to end up with a car to FIA 'K' appendix standard, which means the correct age shell with period correct parts, so as to be eligble for competition.

Problem is the right rare parts have doubled in price in the past 6 months, I may have left it to late!:roll:

Johnny's Mint 964 actually has all black wheels as in the original pic
