Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I want a flat screen Karmann Beetle convertible with big power, or a really sorted Escort mk 2 or Chevette HSR. Would need to sell the 964 unless I get frivolous with part of my pension when I retire in 6 or so years.
I could dig the Merc as a daily as I work from home, but would need to be an estate to justify
I did once have a plan to take a sum of the tax free pension and buy a car I had always wanted, enjoy it, improve it, sell it, then buy another with no regrets and buy another. Still sounds good in my head but I hate selling cars. I also wanted to travel the word and do every F1 race, but there are about 20 now so I would have to sell the house…..

There is a good looking RHD 1500 in yellow on eBay for about £10k which could make an amazing cal looker if it is sensibly solid

Here it is - gaps look ok from the pics. Obviously a mish-mash of blade bumpers and wedge rear lights plus GT wheels but there is plenty to go at here and make it super cool

Art in the Tinguely Museum - at least one member here should know what car this is/was?

Wow - very good. The plaque on the wall did say T180 though?Lightweight_911 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2026 3:44 pm .

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Really? I am not sure how any beetle can be a world of pain compared to what I have become used to!!!

Looks like they used Marty Feldman's spirit level for getting the rear lights spot on.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I visited the museum some years ago & mistakenly remembered it as the T280 remains.
Just checked - Jean Tinguely was a friend of Bonnier & built the installation as a homage/tribute to his friend - & named it 'Lola T180' ...

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Not that relevant but I was at Le Mans that year and remember being told that Jo Bonnier had crashed and died.
It was very sad.
That incident is the only way I have of remembering which years I went there (1972 and 1973).

Oh yes, I've just looked at the museum's site - I should have checked before posting the picture!Lightweight_911 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2026 5:47 pm
