I vote keep it. I'm one of those (seemingly unusual) petrolheads for whom a sunroof is essential kit.

If you want to keep the sunroof Margaret and it helps, I have a complete original 73 roof section with the sunroof complete and intact - a little kinked on one corner but it would be a great basis for your repair.

Ross has asked me to ask the DDK pool of knowledge on how to remove the anti roll bar please.

I have a question from Ross.

Is this panel available separately as opposed to the whole inner wing?

Not that I’ve seen.
I had to make it which was a right pain as it looks simple but is very 3D when you try and make a bit of steel that shape with just a hammer!

From memory I made mine from scratch as well and yes had to break it into a couple of bits to avoid bends fighting against each other

Ross figured out that this was the case and started fabricating the section, starting with cutting a piece to the template size.




He then copied details from the template to the metal and started shaping.




He then pegged the finish piece to the inner wing.



And finally lightly tacked in place.

The new sill overlap is huge....looks horrible.....is this what to expect with pattern panels?

I had that with my then new, Dansk pattern sills. But that was in 1988…I would expect them to be far better now.

Try Restoration design panels rather than Dansk and not going for genuine Porsche

Hi Brendan, have you got a better pic of just what we are looking at?

Ref sills I bought restoration design mid sill (the flat bit with holes in it) and outers.

In the end I swapped the outers and kidney bowls for OE panels as they were so much sharper and a better fit.

The saving on metal/lead work labour more than paid for the panels
