Lights issue (hopefully a simple fix)

Post by Ferdynine11 »

I wondered if the knowledge of DDK could help me with what I hope to be a simple fix of the lights on my car?

I changed the bulbs to a set of Night Breakers a few months ago, the improvement was excellent however I now have the issue below Image

Whilst on full beam all looks good…….

Thanks for the help in advance……

Cheers

As all works on full beam, that rules out any problems with earths, so either a dodgy connector somewhere between the fuse and the bulb, or a failed bulb.

I'd start by removing the bulb and testing it off the car. If the bulb works, then look for a connector issue.

What he said, except I'd swap the bulbs from right to left to see if the problem moves with them. If it does? Bulb. If it doesn't? Further investigation required!

Check the headlight fuses if using the original fusebox. Corrosion sets in on the fuses and the tabs and creates a resistance leading to silly things happening

on Seans point, have you got a classic retrofit fusebox fitted? If not one of the first things I did on mine was add in the JWest Headlight relay, I think I picked it up from someone on here tbh. Worth considering anyway

Just supporting what others have already said .. That stalk switch isn't very happy switching headlight current, especially after 50+ years. It's a really good idea to add headlight relays to do the heavy lifting. Good luck
