Confused: No Claims bonus, What are the facts?
I need some clarity from some who know the facts:
Just had a renewal quote from LV for my Skoda Superb, price dropped to £430 from £470 last year, car on Auto Renewal.
Decided to see if this was value so on line to Direct Line for a comparison.
Site refused to give me a quote as more personal details were required, but gave no way to provide any, whatever they wanted, so a waste of time.
Decided to try Confused.com for the same purpose.
They asked what NCB I had on this car, and also NCB on my other cars, but only allowed me to respond to one other car, not the others.
They added that I can only claim NCB on the time I have owned the car being quoted for.
Why is NCB calculated on the ownership period of a car?
Based on this position I have
2 years ownership on the Skoda.
10 years on my Boxster
38 years on my 911
Surely the (my) NCB is my personal time not having made a claim against any of my cars?
What is the truth about NCB?

they are correct .. but remember the car you own , you will have transferred the previous cars NCB over to it when applying for the new policy so this will add up ?
NCB's ..... far as I'm aware can only be accrued on one car at a time and only used on one car officially at a time .. but it builds up having the NCB transferred from daily car to daily car as I change cars every couple of years. For me it's on my daily driver, accrued and applied . My wife the same on her daily. Rightly or wrongly we also pay to protect these . Both at max NCB . Cant accrue official no claims on the classic policies. BUT .. insurance companies do take into account if you have a no claims on another car and then 'discount' your policy accordingly ( well mine do ) . This is all based on experience of our 6 individual policies we have

Re: Confused: No Claims bonus, What are the facts?
Thanks James for the reply.
It is not that clear!
I've had daily drivers for years, possibly decades, cars that are my own (not company cars), so that will be over 20 years no claims.
Now consider the Boxster. A car in a stream of second cars, weekend etc use only, and in my case 10 years with previous cars to add for NCB. But I can't it seems as my NCB is all on the Skoda.
The 911 is classic cover/agreed value so NCB is not applicable.
Over all these years I have made no claims at all on any car, so presumably I use all the ncb on the car most expensive to insure?
How does this work on multi car policies?
Is this just a way to ensure you pay more on the other cars I wonder.

Thank you Dan, I will do as you request.
All the quotes on Confused.com were more expensive than the £430 from LV.
I will load the nub on this Skoda.
