100% agreed Andy! Although do a few trips (CLM, Spa 6 hours, DDK weekend etc) and you’ll have met a load more of us and’ll be fine in no time.

Clique thing is something I’m aware can happen and I REALLY try and make sure isn’t an issue for new people who come to ddk things I’m involved with

I think a clique is often perception. I have only met some DDK'ers 3 times over well a long time. Stanford Hall, Le Mans and a trip to the Motorist. Each time I only recognised 1 or 2 people so I could hardly say I know them, however everyone was very friendly. Start talking about cars which is all our common point of interest and go from there. I'm really looking forward to the DDK event in July because I will actually have time to talk to people properly.

This has made me think...

I know 1 DDK'r really well, infact through PCGB in 1990.
Know four others well due to time spent chatting mainly at hillclimbs.
Know another 5 via one DDK event last year but cannot put all names to faces.

Like with all social events, you just have to chat and break into the perceived circle.

I joined PCGB for a year and I did get a COA, which was available back then, but didn’t renew. For me the DDK forum is brilliant for getting help with my car from likeminded people who have first hand experience and knowledge since they have similar cars.

I didn’t find PCGB was helpful in the same way for our older, air cooled cars.

That is true, the interest in early cars on the forum is low, the Early Cars register is quite strong though.

Conversely, the Boxster forum is strong and more in line with current PCGB outlook.
