Help hagety and Europen breakdown

Unfortunately, the 356 has stopped working (I think I know why) and we have called hagety European breakdown cover but they will not recover us to home but we have to go a local garage to be assessed) then maybe home. This is now what I thought the policy covered. No managers are available! I tired to explain that the garage will now be able to fix.

Any information or better numbers I can call to get this sorted

Is the repair a general problem or something you need a specialist for ?

Back in 2008 ish when I broke down in France , car had to be recovered to a French garage… then when it couldn’t be repaired with them, they put me in a hire car to complete my journey and the car arrived back in the uk and delivered to my specialist weeks later .

To note, hire car couldn’t be taken out of Europe, so had to leave it at the ferry port, then a new hire car from Dover

I had exactly the same experience when I had a gearbox failure in a
911 - recovered to a garage, attempted repair, hire car to get me home, car arrived back to address of my choosing about a week later

Yeah. They’ll always want to try a repair in case you’re wrong and it can be fixed by a Gauloises-toking moustache-wearing mechanique.

Recovery will cost them a good couple of grand I’d imagine.

I think that sounds promising. Very likely new battery and possibly some ignition system fettling will see you right? In which case local garage will probably be able to fix. Any Porsche specialists (or even OPCs - don't laugh, they have done well for others in similar situations) nearby?

My insurer is Chubb- and will recover the car to wherever I specify- not just “local garage”- so have had one recovered from Ireland to Greatworth. Had a hassle in France ( near Lyon) a few years back which I managed to fix but they were booking it from there to Greatworth too. Invaluable!

We are at the depot/garage now and they immediately looked at it and decided that they couldn't fit it.

Now they are very reluctant about getting the car back to us in the UK

I have found a local place that knows 911s well but hopefully it will not come to that. RAC have been completely rubbish. They are meant to be organising a taxi and car rental to the ferry. That was 2 hours ago. We are now in Lille about to get on a bus to Victoria

Bardsleys 100 - Hagerty 0 - I had to fight tooth and nail with them to get paid out when my 1974 2.7 was stolen in France over ten years ago- wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole!
