Ive always tried to drive as if I was on a bike with regard to other vehicles etc .. my plan is to only really ride on roads I’d normally cycle on , so generally just the non classified lanes and maybe some b roads. I’m riding in proper protective gear too . I will report back after my first proper ride.

One thing I’m loving learning about is the history of these bikes which is what attracted me to the c100 . From what I can gather 1962 was when they were first sold in the uk , so mine being 1963 would have been a new kid on the block at the time 8) . The c100 is known as the 50cc pushrod engine with low light … Wasn’t too many years until the design changed to the traditional c50/c70/c90 style with ohc motor

I can understand the history bit.
I’ve found that with all the bikes I have done, the old push bikes and esp the Lola.
Makes the ownership so much richer.

These Hondas are very appealing James, very much fancy a project one myself, but a really roaches out one.
Hard to find in that condition!

..... "but a really roaches out one " ?? Sorry , but I just can't work that one out ..... is the phrase also available in English ??

Ah - you really mean it got an s instead of a d.
Now I know why it made no sense - roached out is not an expression I am familiar with (mind you - neither was "godown" , when we lived in India .... I soon learnt !!)

I think it may be worse than you think, roached-out might be a local phrase from Birmingham!

You Royal Enfield has been in India since you came on DDK?!

Indeed it has (along with a friends) - been there since bought new in 2005. Getting harder to find a trouble free route home with it .... may never happen , who knows. Time we went out and rode them a bit , and ate some of that nice food , etc etc

Which is all very well until you come across someone carrying out an Italian tune up in his yellow 'S' on the same roads! Been there, done that meeting my mate in his rally prepped MGCGT...

Just on the off chance that someone on here might be in the market for a Kawasaki Z1300 (6 cylinder - 1980 bike) ... yes the one I posted about a few years back. I'm offering it up for sale - will try and attach a link below. Price is reasonably negotiable for a DDKer. It's a good one , rare ... BUT (as I say in the advert) it is NOT a light machine !!.

Random Post : Cause it's Motorcycle related !
On Sat (13th Sept ? ... not important) , I will jump on the big Wing and head (indirectly) for the middle of Portugal, to "informally" meet up with somewhere between 180,000 and 200,000 other motorcyclists. The number is a guess , but it's been increasing rapidly over the last 10 years + , last year the figure was put at 180,000 ... we shall see.
Location : Fatima , "event" - a helmet blessing. I'm not (even semi) a religious person , but I just can't get my head round that many people , arriving on bikes , to one place at the same time. So I'm going to see for myself. Estimated 3000 to 3500 mile trip , allowing 13 days total. Should have a photo or two on my return ........ (It should be warmer than here !)

Yes, prices have eased a lot over all 2 wheel classics, but Lambretta's seem to hold on better than most!
Original complete starting points are super rare now. The TV 175 I did above was really good and complete, just worn out and from Roma.

My main probs are space in the garage to do another and the wife's willingness for me to do another restoration (on anything this big).
If I tried I could force the space but not the wife.

The classic line is
"why spend money on something you will not use".
Hard to argue against that.

So, I'm down to model aeroplanes and toy cars flown and restored.

In all fairness, I've done a few restorations and worked on one-out-one-in over the years, 6 motorcycles. All hard but rewarding, but now at a close.
