Coolant Question

Stupid question on an mostly air cooled forum but I'm going to change the coolant on my son's motorbike as he is having cold start problems.

Says a 50/50 mix between water and coolant. Can I move up the coolant to 60 or 70% for the rest of the winter. Might help with the lower temperatures?

IIRC, water is better at heat transfer than neat coolant, so going more coolant will reduce its performance (slightly).
As a 50/50 mix is normally good down to temperatures far lower than we are likely to experience in the UK, so I would stay with that.

Just make sure that you use the right coolant, to avoid corrosion issues.

My son's guess is that the temperature sensor isn't working. I thought maybe because the coolant is too cold?

Why not just change the coolant sensor instead of trying to find a way around it?
If the sensor is not reading correctly on a cold start (if that is what it actually is) the sensor will also change the fuel delivery once warmed up. If it is not working correctly then it could be giving too much fuel at a normal temperature when it is not meant to, leading to other problems.............like a melted piston in the long term!
