915 gearbox, 5 speed

Post by PeterK »

Maybe a long shot, but ....

My 4th gear is getting very noisy, which could be bearings and/or the gear itself. Angus advises that gears can take some time to acquire, so.... does anyone have a gearbox to lend or sell me, so that I can get mine rebuilt without worrying whether any delay will scupper my CLM trip.

I need a 915, 5 speed, with electric speed sender.
Thx
Peter

Have you tried Guard Transmissions in the States? They usually have all of the gears available off the shelf.

Hi Peter

I have a 915 with the electric pickup available. I think it is from 1976 but I will check today. Ex Tuthills. Also have the electric speedo to match if it helps.

Regards
Mike

Thx but at this stage I don’t know what I might need. The spare is an insurance (or delays spending on a rebuild or maybe then i could try to rebuild it myself)
