Does domed sump plate fit over 964 oil pump?

Post by RobFrost »

Does anyone know if the standard domed oil sump cover fits over a 964 oil pump when retrofitted to an early engine (2.2 case)?

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Will your original strainer from the engine fit the 964 pump?

I used an Aluminium billet sump plate on my 2.4 ( to 2.7) build for a later oil pump. Pelican have one which clears a 993 pump which may do the job. Purchased my sump plate in the UK but so long ago can't remember where I purchased it from.

Something like this should accomodate a later oil pump. Image

This is one for sale, but overly expensive, but states it is for a 964 pump fitted to a 911

That appears to be the same one Design 911 sell (if they actually have it in stock!) but there is no underside picture?

Looking at the Design 911 one, and then comparing it to the LN Engineering one, they are identical even down to the three machined fins either side of the sump plug, it is just solid alloy, with no recess underneath for the strainer - you can see the sump plug threads run the depth of the extra extension, so basically just a solid piece with fins machined in it - so the Design 911 is not suitable (though they will probably tell you it is)

993 is the same as 964, I understand. It might be the same design but aluminium instead of the magnesium 964 one.
