Hello, James.

IMHO..there is no-one in UK at present who can get close on price..for the same spec..(I tried to do it myself)
Henry has used almost all new parts, unlike most..and there are quite a lot of special bits here..and his name is legendary..

In rally tune these are just under 300 bhp on the dyno.

Obviously the dollar rate etc varies and you'd need to ask Chris specifically depending on spec..

What would you call frightening?

Kind regards
David

fetuhoe,

Why did you buy from USA? Aren't there any good engine builders in the UK?

I approached Henry Schmidt at Supertec (who built these engines) about building me a 2.5 litre short-stroke twin-plug engine last year & the price quoted was much better than anyone in the UK that I would trust to build a similar engine.

In addition, Henry's build spec, attention to detail & experience (see how many successful racers use his engines) make the finished article a work of art as well as a reliable high output performer.

I've built plenty of engines in the past but it just doesn't make economical sense to attempt to build one to the same spec yourself given his prices.

911 Engines

We spent a significant amount of time looking for a good engine builder who would meet our specifiction within the budget that we had available and ended up in the States.

The detailed engine spec that we have purchased gave us good value and we believe an excellent engine.

The prices we were quoted in the UK were either significantly more expensive for the spec we produced or were a much lower spec for the money we wanted to spend.

We approached 4 engine builders in the UK and 3 in the USA.

The entire experience was very interesting and in the end we felt that Supertec stood out in terms of Quality/Cost ratio and in terms of attention to detail and presentation all of which were important with regard to the car we need to prepare.

With regard to price I am sure we could have bought cheaper engines but the overall package was more than competitive and it is difficult for me to publish prices because of our relationship with the end customers.

I have been very impressed by the presentaion of the Supertec motor. The only problem I have had is that they had timed it to the wrong mark! It took 60 seconds to fix.
