stuttgart porsche museum photos

Post by craig001 »

Back from Stuttgart, and what a trip, good pure German beer and lots of cool Porsches 8) .
These photos were taken at the Porsche museum at Porsche werk 2 in Stuttgart, I had a very interesting tour of the factory prior to the museum but no cameras or camera phones were allowed  , I would definatly recommend this tour to anyone. Theres something very cool about seeing the order sheets come in and watching the cars being built up in the precise German way, every 5 minutes a car rolls out, 120 minutes to build up the engine (done by one man), suspension/brake assembly ordered from supplier just 300 minutes before it is fitted to the car.....absolutly amazing, would never work in England!!! well worth a visit.

I apologise for my crap photographic skills.....

356 'No.1', An amazing car with an Amazing history, It was the first car to actually bear the Porsche name, there are photo's of Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche stood next to it in 1948 and Ferry actually driving it in 1994 on his 85th birthday. In 1998 it was severely damaged when it fell off a pallet while being loaded onto a plane, It was then fully repaired and restored by Porsche to the condition its in today

The 356's including a light alloy coupe (no 46 Le mans 24hr competitor) and an old cop car.
