Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble - Oct 4th

Post by alfietom »

Looks like I’ve missed tickets for this one.
Is it worth a 400 mile round trip, what goes on there and does anybody have a couple of tickets they may wish to sell?

Probably the best 'casual' car meet ever. Just do an online search. I go to most - leave about 5.30am from Cornwall and back later that day.

I think most of the allocations went to people who had bought tickets for cancelled events earlier in the year and they have to reduce numbers to allow sufficient space.
The force is strong in this one ......

Not sure there would be a shortage of space as it is an airfield and therefore plenty of room to spread cars out. More likely restrictions on numbers because there have been long tail backs, sometimes, on the local roads causing traffic chaos on entering the site. ( the site is located on a roundabout junction to the Bicester "ring road").The local populace have complained to the police and local newspapers made "news" from it and tried to elevate the problem into a local "cause". There were also issues about checking tickets on entry which further impacted upon tailbacks. PCGB have had restrictions placed on them for newer cars (maximum 60). I booked two weeks ago and the more modern vehicle allocation was already full. There were still tickets for older vehicles available.

It is without doubt as previously said the most relaxed car meet on the Calendar and renewed it certainly reignited my interest in car shows, I got my ticket through having purchased one in April.

I am not sure how they are going to monitor this and think the event will unfortunately be cancelled again as i'm not sure how the 6 people only rule can be enforced. A lot of motorsport events can still run as they are classed as organised sporting events but i'm guessing all spectators will now not be allowed.

Just had a mail from Hagerty saying that Bicester Scramble 4th October is cancelled.
Not really surprised- I was at the “drive in day” last weekend and, as previously mentioned, couldn’t not really see how the social distancing guidelines were working.
