I've used RC6 on both the Hillclimb 911 and road/occasional Hillclimb 914/6. I agree with Smallspeed about the characteristics on the road, so the new RC5+ are probably better for that, but I can't comment since I haven't used them.
Also agree with him about your car! that will be fabulous with a nice 2.4S engine in the back!

Thanks all for the kind words about the car. It's fab and I'm very excited about the engine upgrade. I've been out in it quite a bit over the last week or so and we are getting to be good friends again. As I've been out blatting, the car definitely needs more roll control. So I'll redouble my efforts to get a front arb.
I've been scoping out the mods. The tank has a blocked off return fitting, so that bodes well for the extra fuel line. I need to decide whether to put the fuel pump at the front or in the engine bay.
The wiring in my engine bay is, er quite "adventurous" and I think will need some work to get it right. I don't know what all the electrical components I need for an MFI motor are nor what I have in there already. But there's not much on there! I'll post some pictures later for comment.

Not much progress on the motor transplant, but I am going to pick up the fettled and serviced motor on Wednesday.
But I can report back on the brakes. I was very happy with the feel of the used Pagid blue pads I stuck in and I am very happy to report that they worked very well indeed on track at BH last week. Plenty of bite and the pedal felt ok and provided a good platform to HnT.
Perhaps with more practice and confidence I might reach the limit of brake capability, but it's not a race car, so I'll count brakes as sorted for the time being!
Right, back from hols, time to get going on the engine transplant project.
I'm thinking about the wiring and electrical components and whether I need the later mounting plate or would be better with it. The early mounting plates (65-69) are different from the later ones (70-73).
So the winter project starts. I delivered the car yesterday to the workshop where the engine transplant will happen. It's my friend who is a classic (predominantly race) car restorer and preparer.
I'm planning on spending some time there to do spannering and learn how it all goes together - especially doing the engine in/out as I've never done one on a 911!
I'll post some pics next week to make the thread more interesting. I've got a few things to work out...
When changing the flywheel from my 2.0 to the 2.4 to allow it to fit to a 901 box, are the flywheel bolts stretch ones and do I need to use new?
We have a general purpose clutch alignment tool (which is a bit naff), what do people use? We are thinking of leaving the box in the car, so will need to get the clutch lined up properly to avoind a lot of swearing!

A general purpose tool ought to be OK as long as it centralises the centre plate properly.

Thanks JW, the advice that the engine could be easily changed came from a reputable source, but it had me scratching my head a bit! That's that settled!
Just a thought, will your 2 litre clutch handle the extra torque of the 2.4S? The one in our 914/6 with 168bhp is on the limit..........
