Modern Le Mans Sept

Post by Flat 6 »

Hey all,

I am thinking of going with a few pals to the rescheduled modern Le Mans in Sept.

Does anyone have any particular insight into what sort of event this might be? The crowds are a big part of the atmosphere but presumably the numbers will be reduced? Or perhaps because it is a mainly outdoor event the ACO won't have to limit things?

Of course also interested to know whether bars and restaurants would be open at the circuit and in places like Arnage and City centre?

Campsites seem fairly open as usual.

I think there is someone on here who lives in Le Mans? Unfortunately can't recall your handle (nice old CB term there that I think the twits have borrowed?). Any inside knowledge?

Musings welcome but hard facts preferred!

Merci,

Al.

Thanks Dave,

I have just been over on PH and reminded myself of that. There is a useful discussion on their Le Mans section to which he is contributing.

Tend to avoid PH these days in favour of DDK and IB. I think there is an IB'er who lives in or around Le Mans also.

Best.

It’s an interesting question. Will they restrict areas by distanced capacity and only allow, say, 1500 people into Arnage at a time? No idea how they will handle this but they will have to be responsible nd plan for a lot of the audience not being, so could be quite restrictive. Apologies, no facts, just thoughts

I emailed Andrew at TD and he said that it will be a quiet affair, looks like its limited to 50k spectators, TD will be going but with a smaller offering. Likely to be less going on at and around the circuit because of limited numbers and suggests that Arnage etc will be open for business as they need to make money after the lockdown. I'm be speaking to Andrew next week so will ask futher.

Modern Le Mans Sept

Disappointing news for those who still wanted to go spectate, but...

To me their last idea of having only a limited number of spectators, separated into smaller sub groups who had to remain within mini “spectator villages” around the circuit was just silly.
One of the big attractions of LM is the ability to travel to different parts of the circuit to spectate, and also to explore and enjoy the local roads, villages and cafes.
