Thought this car looked familiar though significantly changed.
Bill Goodman used to be in my hill climb class, but engine was a turbo.

Really nice gent, taught me a few things, bet Jonathan knows a few of them too. :)

I don't think so Thomas.

From memory Ian's car - which then went to Dan Squires who had Tuthill's build it into an RSR-inspired car - was based on a LHD '73 911T ...

Yes, as Graham says, it was Bill Goodman's car, I knew it well when he was competing. It had a modified 3 litre turbo engine and gearbox fitted latterly, and was a very quick road/competition car. Bill converted it back to more "touring" spec when he retired from competition, well into his 80's, but still kept it with wide-body 3.0RS style bodywork.

The last time that I met Bill before he passed away, I bought the Bilstein competition suspension from his car, that my car is running on today. He was a delightful man, a good friend and a ferocious competitor.

I have the original 400m wheel off Bills car on my S Targa.

I paid Bill £20 for his wheel which he subsequently declared to be a bargain!

Funny story - At a Husborne Crawley Autojumble, 1989 or ‘90 I guess, when it was still held in the field which was latterly used as the car park, I had on my wants list a replacement steering wheel, mine was beyond economical repair. A stall holder offered me a nice RS Wheel for £50 and I turned it down because, quote “no thanks, I think I will hang on for the correct wheel for an S” - as Homer Simpson would say Doh.

Bill was chattering and looking around our car one day. "You have still got the opening rear windows in your car, I've got a pair of lightweight fixed ones somewhere, would you be interested?"
"What do you want for them Bill?"
"Oh, I don't know, see what you think"
A deal was done for a couple of bottles of good whiskey.
A few months later, he was looking around again. "I see you've still got the lightweight windows - that stuff you gave me has all gone!"

:)

He was a super bloke, and Mike Hall followed suite, what a great class it was in my early days, and still is today.
Bill was at the Prescott Drivers School I did in '91...
Great memories these old Skool blokes bring, wonder if 'we' will be remembered in the same vein.

Remember when Roy Lane had that Australian 911 on the hills?

Good stuff, so happy to have been part of it all.
