Dear all,
when I got my car it had a metal plate fitted on the inside at the top of the door apertures on each side of the car.
I assumed that this was what was left of the door stops 90153175300 so have bought some replacements, which are in effect a rubber block, rubberised over a metal plate.
As I have never noticed one fitted to a car in the flesh, I am a little confused as to how they are meant to fit.
Can anyone shed light on whether they are intended to :-
a) stop the door frame closing too far into the aperture ( i.e. hold it out at a set distance )
or
b) whether they are there to prevent the door from moving up/down in the door frame.
The reason I ask is that they seem to fit outside the seal so can't understand how a) would work and maintain a seal unless the door frame goes under them.
I'm clearly being a little dumb but any advice would be appreciated so that I can understand how to set my door frames in relation to the stop.
As always any help is much appreciated.
Andrew

Andrew,
When the door is closed they sit on top of the window frame. They were later replaced by a 'velvet' door seal which ran all along the top and down the inside of the windscreen pillar.

Thanks for the response guys.
So we are saying it is option b) but I'm guessing there is supposed to be some friction fit with the grooves in the block holding the frame and preventing it being pulled outwards at high speeds.
I'm guessing I will need to shim the block if I can't fully adjust my door frame to glance the block correctly.
Am I now on the right lines?
