What happened to this strange 59 Convertible D ?

Hi Guys
I was trawling through some old copies of the 356 Registry magazine (June/July 1982 to be exact) and found an article written by the late Barry Curtis who was seeking information on a ‘D’ he had bought from France.

It had been heavily modified with fibre glass flared arches, a front air scoop and a steel fabricated hard top.
I have always had a soft spot for ‘D’s having restored one many years ago and now embarking on piecing together another. So does anyone know whatever happened to Chassis No. 85546, Barry was selling it in 1982 but did it ever get sold/restored?

Yes Drew,
It got sold and was restored back to a `D` here in the UK- Its folding roof was still underneath all the Fibreglass

Where it is now, I do not know and who Barry sold it to also eludes me (a lady, I think ?)

Barry called it the Unconvertible D , it was sold to a lady called Stacey Ramsey if I recall correctly, possibly an actress/minor celebrity ? Lived in Kensington and had a boyfriend partner who also had a 356, possibly an author ? It was painted a pale metallic blue with matching interior, the interior and top were done by a name I should remember, a long time 356 guy who was the head trimmer at AC Cars ( the second incarnation who made aluminium Cobras ), I'm sure you know who I mean Mike ? It was probably around 1989/1990 when I did it, not heard of it since.

Of course, I woke up with the name Gordon in my head, no surname though, he had a 356 Cabriolet, lived in the Godalming/Oxshott area.

He lived in Oxshott, just round the corner from where I used to live. last time I saw 'Gordon the Hood' was at Hedingham about five or six years ago.
