Well your making sure the Porsche specialists are kept busy ! I loved my targa wished I kept it however the only thing I dont miss is the wind noise it needs the skill of a safecracker to adjust it to get a decent seal. I had one of the last ones and it did indeed have 6" & 8" which I always thought was a bit odd looks better with 7" on the front.
picked mine up on ebay with a late night flutter of £6100 only found out I won it in the morning

Gary, looks good once the work was done. I assume the last pictures was the before and not after you had worked your magic.

I know, the last thing I need is another car just when the E is going into paint. In all honesty the targa is lovely and should turn out really well. Looking forward to getting it sorted and then sold before summer. I appreciate your advice on the alloys. I was try and pick up some 7 and 8 rather the 6s.

Hopefully see you once the weather improves. You still looking for cars or settled in the Turbo?

Cheers

This was the car when I got it ,the problem being it was fifty shades of red. The car was actually a cracker with no rust other than the base of the front wing being shot had full service history and a top end rebuild.A nice G50 3.2 is a nice drive you will enjoy it on a summers day your list of faults all look run of the mill stuff.

I`m still sorting out the 924 and hopefully get it away to paint the next few weeks and happy with the turbo.

cheers

Gary

8" Fuchs fitted to 930 up to 87 so they are out there second hand, still available new for £750 each. Put 7" on the front though!

If you can't get 8s for the rear, you can put a spacer/adapter in the back to move the 7s out. Looks OK actually.

You cant use a bolt on spacer/adapter with a 7" less than 25mm which is too big really, you need longer studs and a shim type spacer to get the best look of about 18mm

Thanks for the advice. I have sourced a set of 7's for the front and 8's for the rear. It was only when Gary pointed this out and looking through images the difference was apparent. Good timing I had a set on ebay in the watch list.

Car is getting collected tonight and delivered to the garage tomorrow to begin the full assessment and strip down.

Gary,

I don't need any encouragement. Car is in at George Morrisons right now. I stopped in on the way home last night and was plesantly surprised seeing underneath for the first time. Really not that bad. I will take some pictures the next time I am in.

Wheels arrived today and tyres ordered, need to get these on and sell the cups.

Update on progress to date.

Front disks are good

Image

Boge as standard from 85. Good but need a clean and quick paint to protect.

Image

Look away in case you are offended. Replica wheels, the quality is excellent, the centre caps are hideous. I will need to try and paint these or source alternatives I fear. They are quite possibly the worst I have ever seen.

Pre silencer has seen better days

Image

New one ready for fitting

Image

Amusing plate in the cars history

Image

One seized brake caliper

Image

Handbrake shoes and all of the disk back plates are gone.

Nice find Tom. You need to have at least one summer with it, have a word with yourself.

Mundane but essentail, I hate knowing a car is dirty. Enjoy getting it dirty but don't enjoy other peoples dirt.

The drivers seat wasnt working either, nice simple fix. The fire had come loose, love the easy ones.

This is the worst section on the drivers bolster, the seats are being dropped off to a leather specalist I use to have the vinyl repaired / dyed.
