What tool do I need to get my axle but off?

The torque multiplier I use on the 356 doesn't fit on the 912??

My 1/2 inch socket breaker bar is flexing like it going to snap.

Is there another torque tool?

Hi Neil,

Since you are only taking it off, then I recommend an electric rattly impact wrench. I got mine from Machine Mart and it does an excellent job of progressively loosening anything that is done up properly tight.

It made short work of my 356 axle nuts and the flywheel nut on the engine.

Best buy for tools I have made in ages, don't know how I would be without it now.

I always use a 3/4 bar & socket on all high torque hub nuts / engine flywheel gland nuts etc- its a good investment if you are likely to do a few. Likewise I have a significant sized 3/4" torque wrench for when it comes to torqueing them back up.

Actually I ended up buying a £30 torgue multiplier off ebay. it got the nuts off nicely. Alot easy to use than the VW torque tool (which was the wrong size).

do you think your tool will torque up a gland nut, thinking about how to go about that without spending a fortune on a "proper tool"
