Here you will follow the story of this old lady, pulled from a field in Alabama.



Now sat in my garage, stripping complete ready to go to Smiths in Cornwall to have what feels like the majority of Design911's repair panel stock welded in.






Matt has the panels there already, and i'm taking her down there next weekend.

Apologies to people who like shiny things, the patina and sunburn is staying.

Like the trend for stabilising and clearcoating 'handsome' rust and sorting out the mechanicals if that is what you are planning. Look forward to reading more.

Cheers guys, yeah going for the mint underside/running gear and interior but looks like it just came out of a swamp kind of vibe. Just sort of paying homage to what she survived I guess. She's had a bonfire on the bonnet at some point hence the cloudy front screen.

Anyway, I love her for what she is so thats good enough for me.

Cheers man, I haven't decided what route to take with the engine yet - obviously still air-cooled but to what extent I go I don't know.

first time i became aware of this sort of thing, i read an article about a guy with a 40's or 50's dodge convertible 'barge' that he had rescued from the desert. clear coated the rust, sorted the interior and fitted a dodge hellcat motor and gearbox. 700bhp. of modern reliability and brute force. what a hoot!! if i ever find the link,.....

Hi John - yes the torsion tube fortunately appears solid but we'll see when the fabrication progresses.

Back on the trailer, panels temporarily put on as a safe means of transit. Safer than bouncing around in the back of the truck anyway.
