solex 40PII-4 floats

Post by Robot86 »

Hi, after some advice!

I've got some carb issues on my 912 motor, flooding carb when engine is shut off. stripped the carb and the float is full of petrol. so I'm after somewhere that sells replacements... I've found these https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/other-c ... at-40-pii/

Just wondering if these are the same in my 40PII-4 split shafts?

Thanks in advance

Yes, those look like the ones in my split shaft carbs. I had the same problem earlier this year and replaced both floats. I think that I managed to source a pair from Ebay for £36.18 inc postage.

Fitted fine and adjusted the height no problem.

That's great. I'll order a pair and hopefully sorts the problem!

This has got me thinking, I tried turning the engine over before discovering the flooded carb... will this have caused more serious damage?!

If you tried and it turned over as normal then you got away with it. Hydrolic lock if it suddenly stopped!
Have you checked the oil level and had a little smell of the oil for petrol?

I reckon you should be alright as the mechanical fuel pump only pumps when the engine turns. But do check the oil level and for the smell of petrol. Change the oil if in doubt for a decent mineral oil.
